Hi! I’m Alise.
She/her. Gubbi Gubbi (Sunshine Coast), QLD.
I love maths and science, and helping other people love maths and science too
Science communication is a way for me to combine what I’m passionate about and what I’m good at. So far my career has been a cocktail of education, mathematical modelling and science communication. I work as a Fisheries Scientist, using maths to monitor wild fish populations and prevent overfishing. Along the way, I’ve embarked on many side quests: a kids science TV show, stand up comedy, a TV commercial, countless interviews for newspapers, TV and radio, acting in a music video, and managing a sporting club.
Outside of the STEM universe, I have many hobbies and interests. I love animals, playing quidditch, music, gardening, and mycology. Most importantly, I’m passionate about protecting the natural environment. My career goal is to build myself a platform from which I can both stand up for the planet and elicit climate action, and inspire future generations to do the same.
